Today's name of God is El Roi, "The God who sees me." God isn't like Santa Claus who is supposedly watching everything you do and keeping a list of naughty and nice. Most people think if you don't do enough good, He's there to punish you and give you that lump of coal. But the name of El Roi speaks about God's faithfulness to watch over us. God is intimately familiar with what's going on in our lives. Nothing catches Him by surprise. And it is because He is watching over us to help us, that we can overcome our troubles. El Roi was the name Hagar used to describe God. God saw her suffering in the desert in fear and without water after she ran away from Sarah. Seeing her distress, God called out to her and gave her wisdom and sent help her and her son. Be assured, God is watching over you not to condemn you, but to save you and help you in your times of trouble. God greatly loves you. He really is the God who sees you, identifies with your pain, and is willing and able to help you overcome.
